Market remained volatile during the day

Market remained volatile during the day with selling pressure slowly starting to creep into the market as the bourse stagnated. Low level of activity in the blue chips was seen as the turnover also declined to Rs.1.2Bn.
All Share Price Index declined by 0.1% to close at 6812.59 while the liquid Milanka Price Index gained by 0.29% to end the day at 6230.38.
Volumes decreased by 27.1% to 73m, whilst turnover decreased by 19.5% to Rs.1.2Bn.
The gainers list was led by Harischandra and Lanka Cement while Equity and Samson Internat. led the Losers.
East West topped the turnover list with Rs.282m to the day’s turnover whilst East West dominated the volume list with 14m shares.
A total of Rs.11m net FII outflow was witnessed for the day.
