Market turnover levels improved by circa 25%

The Colombo bourse ended the day in the green after ending in on a negative note for four consecutive days. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed virtually flat at 6,7336.02 points, gaining a marginal 0.02%(1.42 points) over Fridays close whilst the Milanka Price Index (MPI) ended the day at 6,025.81 gaining 0.03%(1.88 points).
Market turnover levels improved by circa 25% over Friday’s turnover, to record a value of LKR 1.425Bn for the day. The highest contributors to the day’s turnover were Tess Agro, HVA Foods, Regnis Lanka, Radiant Gems, and Asiri Hospitals. The top five trades for the day generated over 35% of the day’s total turnover.
Tess Agro (TESS) was the top trader for the day generating LKR.169.46Mn.The counter contributed 16% to the total turnover with circa over 25Mn shares changing hands. TESS ended 13.8% higher over Fridays’ close to close the day at LKR.6.60. TESS hit a high of LKR.6.90 during the day. HVA Foods PLC (HVA) was the second highest turnover generator for the day.
HVA traded actively throughout the day generating a turnover of LKR.126.8Mn, which was equivalent to 9% of the total market turnover of the day. The share ended the day at LKR 58.60, gaining 8.60% over Friday’s close.
Regnis Lanka (REG) continued to be in the top five turnover contributors list for the third consecutive day recording a turnover of LKR.86Mn. The counter recorded a continuous price appreciation during the same period. REG closed at LKR.318.40, gaining 4.63% (LKR12.40) over the previous close.
Interest was also seen in Radiant Gems & Asiri Hospitals during the day.
Foreigners ended the day as net sellers with foreign sales worth of LKR.96.37Mn against foreign purchases of LKR.52.46Mn, resulting in a net foreign outflow of LKR.43.91Mn.
