Serendib Hotels (SHOT) continued to attract high investor interest

The bearish market sentiment continued with investor participation seeing a drop over yesterdays’ levels. The indices ended in opposite directions with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) closing 0.28% (18.24 points) lower whilst the Milanka Price Index (MPI) ended in the green, climbing by a trivila 0.08% over yesterdays’ close. The ASPI & the MPI ended the day at 6,585.99 points & 5,910.54 points respectively.
Market turnover witnessed a reduction today. Total market turnover for the day was LKR.1.21Bn. The major contributors to the days’ total turnover were Regnis Lanka, John Keells Holdings, Serendib Hotels, Vallibel One & Citrus Leisure.
Regnis Lanka (REG) traded actively today with 230,000 shares changing hands. The counter generated the highest turnover for the day of LKR.115.05Mn. REG however lost ground by 5.23% (LKR.26.30) over yesterdays’ close to end the day at LKR.477.10.
John Keells Holdings (JKH) saw a crossing of 350,000 shares taking place at LKR.200.00. A total of 425,300 shares of JKH transacted during trading with the counter ending the day at LKR.201.00, rising 0.50% (LKR.1.00).
Serendib Hotels (SHOT) continued to attract high investor interest. The share rose 4.93% (LKR.1.50) over the previous close with over 2.5Mn shares trading during the day.
Citrus Leisure was among the actively traded stock of the day with more than 1.1Mn shares changing hands generating a turnover of LKR.77.25Mn. REEF ended trading at LKR.67.90, rising by 4.62% (LKR.3.00) over the previous close.
Foreigners ended the day as net buyers with foreign purchases amounting to LKR.161.2Mn against foreign sales of LKR.95.10Mn, resulting in a net foreign inflow of LKR.66.10Mn.
