Gains made during early hours of trading failed to hold its ground with all sectors with the exception of Oil Palms making losses. New entrant, Capital Alliance Finance Limited made its debut at Rs.35.40 compared to its reference price of Rs.15.00. The counter gathered momentum to reach Rs.50.00 and closed at Rs.39.
Bank, Finance & Insurance sector was the main contributor to the market turnover (due to Capital Alliance Finance) and the sector index decreased 1.24%. 13,560,000 shares of Capital Alliance changed hands at Rs.30.00 today.
Manufacturing Sector also contributed to the turnover (due to Regnis Lanka ) and the sector declined by 1.47%. Regnis Lanka continued contribute significantly to the market turnover.
However its share price decreased by Rs.33.70 (6.89%) and closed at Rs.425.00.
Ceylon and Foreign Trades also contributed considerably to the market turnover. The Share price dropped Rs.0.80 (7.14%) to close at Rs.10.30. Ascot Holdings, E-Channeling and Colonial Motors continued to attract interest and were also seen as heavy turnover contributors.
Merchantile Investments Ltd declared a second interim dividend of Rs.12 per share.
