The market witnessed a solid performance today

The market witnessed a solid performance today as the investor sentiment turned positive. The Colombo benchmark index, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) ended in the green today gaining 0.31% (20.99 points) over yesterdays close whilst the Milanka Price Index (MPI) climbed 0.675 (39.54 points). The ASPI & the MPI closed the day at 6,898.83 points & 5,978.14 points respectively.

Market turnover improved to LKR.2.32Bn with Laugfs Gas voting & non voting, John Keells Holdings & Regnis Lanka contributing 62% to the total market turnover. Blue Diamonds Jewelry voting & Non voting too generated considerable turnovers.

Laugfs Gas voting (LGL-N) witnessed renewed investor interest today. The share traded heavily with close to 20.6Mn shares transacting generating the highest turnover for the day of LKR.986.80Mn, equivalent to 42.45% of the total turnover of the day. LGL-N climbed 17.81% (LKR.7.30) whilst the non voting share of LGL picked up by 13.47% (LKR.3.50) over the previous close to end the day at LKR.48.30 & LKR.29.50 respectively. A total of 4.03Mn shares of LGL non voting changed hands today.

Regnis Lanka (REG) continued to attract investors. The counter rose by 6% (LKR.28.70) over yesterdays close to end at LKR.506.20 for the day. A volume of 253,500 shares of REG traded during the day generating a turnover of LKR.126.36Mn.

Premier Blue Chip John Keells Holdings (JHK) saw more than 1Mn shares change hands today of which 456,000 shares transacted through off the trading floor trades at a price of LKR.201.00. The counter closed the day flat at LKR.200.00.

Blue Diamonds Non voting (BLUE-X) gained 8.70% (LKR.0.40) with close to 20Mn shares trading today whilst the Voting share (BLUE-N) too moved up by 7.45% (LKR.0.70). BLUE-N & BLUE-X closed the day at LKR.10.10 & LKR.5.00 for the day.

Foreigners ended the day as net buyers today with foreign purchases of LKR.316.4Mn against foreign sales of LKR.294.5Mn resulting in a net foreign in flow of LKR.21.9Mn.
